once again Black & White Wednesday

It is once again, Black & White Wednesday's over at The Long Road To China web site!

I must admit, I did have to search this week for a photo to use...

But it did not take me long to find exactly what I was looking for...

Below is two photos - one finished in Black & White and the other finished in Color for you all to view.

The one photo from which both were edited from was truly a great shot of our two girls. It was taken this past November to be used on our Christmas card. And for those of you who have received a card from us this past holiday season knows that neither of these two photos shown below were used and seriously there is no particular reason why. So after coming across my saved color version of the original photo, I just knew it would be the perfect pic to play around with those special editing tools some more...

And editing {playing} I did...

Since this is Black & White Wednesday...I figure it was best to start with my B&W version of the photo...

B&W 2/17

For some reason, it turned out better than I expected (that's is why it is posted here). Even though you don't get that abundant color range as featured in the photo below, you still get what this photo is all about!

{during my editing} I also added a little "dusting" factor to the B&W, I still think it is an amazing posed photo of one of my favorite subjects to photograph ~ our two girls.

Now here is the end result of the color photo that I edited.

xmas1126

I think using the outline reflection in both photos proved to be an outstanding way to make both photos just pop!

Thank You Lisa for starting Black & White Wednesdays! Just being a part of it is truly special for me. It has made me really start focusing on (and playing with) some editing tools I never dreamed I would using {or wanting to use} and it has opened me up to a world I only heard existed. So for that I must once again say, Thank You.

I like how this shot looks in black and white but, I think I like it better in color (but perhaps that is just the " I look out my window and life is colorless" winter blahs talking)

The girls are so very lovely. I can't even stand it : ). Sweet as can be! I love this picture. I think I love it the best in color as the colors are so subtle and pretty! Very nice. I miss fall days! And DEFINITELY miss Spring and Summer : ) I say this as I look out my window and see the blizzard swirling all around!

Hi there~

Your girls are such adorable little pumpkins!!!

Since I love autumn (and miss the ones I used to have on the east coast), I LOVE to see autumn shots in color. However, you did a wonderful job transferring this to a b&w and it looks great that way, too, because of the contrast in colors. How on earth did you frame it in such a cool way?

I just realized looking at your blog and seeing your picture that you and I have several common friends on Facebook. Love, love, love the adoption community...

I hope the wait for your son will go by quickly. What do you think your timeline is???

Many blessings~

Beautiful, I like both very, very much. Can't choose which I like better. And your daughters are adorable.

And I see you are waiting for a new little one (a son) to come home. We adopted our son Will, 18 mos. ago from China. He has a repaired cl lip and palate. Will was 2.5 when he came home. Can't wait to follow your journey!

Great shot!! I gotta say, it's hard for me not to love the color version since I loooove orange (especially on cute kiddos!) but the black and white also has a wonderful feel to it!

I love both versions! Your girls have the most adorable smiles. (And I would love to see photos of your CNY decorations. They sound gorgeous. Hint, hint.)

Oh gosh, I'm behind!

These are darling and while I adore the orange pop on the color shot, the B&W is gorgeous in other ways!

Such pretty girls!

One of the things I like best about B&W photography is that it's monochromatic so the subject really pops without all that distracting color to get in the way. But your original photo is so stunning (for similar reasons) that I can't decide which one I like better! They're both really beautiful!

Sweet little girls too, of course! Don't you just love Autumn? We do!
