Francesca's FIRST taste of Chinese food....

Can you imagine that my daughter has never wanted to try Chinese food? Even when we were in China, she refused to let it pass through her lips! (everyone was feeding their new bundles of joy congee in the morning while at the breakfast buffets, but not us...Francesca wanted no part of it) But that has all changed while eating supper on Wednesday evening...Since it was just she & I for supper, I asked her what she wanted. She replied that she wanted a "Nascar Waffle" so that's what I made for her. I on the other hand wanted our left over Chinese food from the past weekend. One of the food items that we had left over were fried wontons. So I heated them up and started her making her waffle. When we were sitting down eating our chosen suppers, she asked if she could try one of the wontons...and of course I said "sure"! You would think she was eating a piece of candy the way she ate it up! She even asked for a second one and a third! I was so happy that she is finally interested in trying new foods....especially foods from her birth country (OK, maybe that are more Americanized, but its a start). Check out the photos below of Francesca's first experience with Chinese food!

how funny that she never liked Chinese food! and I love as these little ones try new things & their taste buds evolve. (Chloe didn't like congee either, but she didn't eat much of ANYTHING in China!) She does like lo mein noodles a lot!

oh, and definately - hook up with us for the Harrisburg Farm Show next time! (although we may be getting our little sister around that time!)

Americanized Chinese is so different from what they must eat in China....Another thing that we have in common. That little girl and I are soul-sisters!
